Substitution – Imputation – Justification – Reconciliation – Salvation
Substitution
The doctrine that Christ suffered by proxy for the sinner, and that his sufferings have the power to make amends.
Imputation
That Jesus undertook to answer the demands of justice for our sins.
Justification
This is declaring a person to be just or righteous. It is a legal term signifying acquittal.
Reconciliation
This involves a change in the relationship between God and Man. It assumes there was a breakdown which through Jesus goes from fragmentation to fellowship.
Salvation
To save, help in distress, rescue, deliver, set free (I think you get the point).
My take on these words is
Swap – Blame – Excuse – Reunion – Rescue
