Last Night on the Field

The title has two meanings:

Last night we were on the field and had a lovely time. We lit a couple of fires, one to cook on and one to keep warm. It went dark very quickly and the ground was very wet so we didn’t do the running around we had done previously. Everyone, did enjoy our own baked loaf and egg and bacon butties. The loaf was cooked in a dutch oven which we need to learn a bit more about using! The loaf was burnt on the bottom, it still tasted lovely.

Was last night our final time on the field for this season. As the ground gets so wet and the weather gets worse we will need an alternative venue. On dry nights we can go for a walk and there will be the running supper and carol singing. We put in a funding bid to put a storage container on the land with a decked covered area. I hope we get the funding because it would change how we and the school use the field. It would be brilliant. It would add a place to store craft materials, games equipment and allow us to have God group again. We would have toilets and a kitchen, lights and heat!
