Love Like a Champion
The Bible talks about a different kind of champion – someone who might not have superpowers, but has something way more important: love.
In 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, the Apostle Paul describes what this kind of love looks like. It’s not just mushy feelings or grand gestures (although those can be nice!). It’s about how we treat each other every day. Here’s what it means for us as Christians.
Patience
We all mess up sometimes. True love means being patient with friends (and even family!) when they make mistakes. Just like waiting for your phone to charge, it takes time for people to grow.
Kindness
Imagine social media where everyone was kind! That’s what Paul is talking about. Being kind means being encouraging online and offline, even when you disagree with someone. Think of it like holding the door open for someone – a small act that makes a big difference.
Not Jealous or Boastful
Social media can make it seem like everyone else’s life is perfect. But true love isn’t about comparing ourselves to others. It’s about celebrating other people’s successes, even if we secretly wish we had their new trainers!
Not Rude or Selfish
Think of that time you offered to share your chips and someone hogged the whole bag? True love means thinking about others before ourselves. It’s about being a good teammate on the sports field or helping someone struggling with their homework.
Not Easily Annoyed
We all have those days where everything seems to get on our nerves. But true love means keeping our cool, even when someone does something annoying. Maybe your little brother keeps borrowing your phone charger – try counting to ten before you lose it!
Doesn’t Keep Score of Wrongs
Holding grudges is like carrying a heavy backpack. True love means forgiving others when they mess up, just like you’d want them to forgive you.
Always Protects, Trusts, Hopes, and Perseveres
True love is like a loyal friend who always has your back. It means believing in others even when they doubt themselves, and having hope that things can get better. It’s about sticking with someone through thick and thin.
Remember, being a champion of love isn’t about being perfect. It’s about trying your best every day to be kind, patient, and forgiving towards others. That’s how we can truly follow Jesus and make the world a little brighter, one act of love at a time!
