Ever feel like you’re constantly running, always striving, trying to keep up with everything? School, friends, family, hobbies – it can get overwhelming! Sometimes, we get so caught up in doing that we forget to just be.
That’s when Psalm 46:10 hits me like a breath of fresh air: “He says, ‘Stop your striving and recognise that I am God! I will be exalted over the nations! I will be exalted over the earth!'”
It’s not saying we shouldn’t work hard or pursue our dreams. But it is saying we need to take a step back sometimes and remember who’s really in charge. It’s a reminder to let go of the need to control everything and trust that God is bigger than any situation we’re facing.
“Recognise that I am God!” It’s an invitation to acknowledge God’s presence in our lives. To remember that He’s not distant or uninterested, but actively involved and deeply caring. When we recognise God, we find peace, even in the midst of chaos.
So, next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a moment. Breathe. Remember Psalm 46:10. Stop your striving, recognise God, and trust in His plan.
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for reminding us to stop striving and recognise you as God. Help us to trust in your power and your love, even when things feel out of control. Help us to find peace in your presence and to let go of the need to do everything ourselves. We give you our worries and our burdens, knowing that you are always with us. Amen.
