I thankfully posted to The Green Living forum to ask advice about this and met a wonderful guy who has helped amazingly. I am hoping to run a variety of things from my solar powered shed including lights for the garden with if possible a trip system or maybe a switch at the gate and back door. I am hoping to power the pond and finally run a model railway. I thought I had the panels for the system but after taking advice am looking to build a system from the ground up. Here is the link to the full post regarding developing a solar powered shed. I am going to write about the experience here with a link to each purchase and what happened at each stage. If you click on the tag solar powered shed you’ll get all the posts.
So this morning I have purchased:
A XV24 Alphaline dual purpose battery. Cost £52.95 including vat and postage!
Sterling Power Twin 12V 300W Pro Power SB Pure Sine Wave Inverter PN: SIB12300. Cost £127.42 including vat and postage
Steca Solsum 10.10F 10A, 12/24VDC Solar Charge Controller Cost £51.83 including vat and postage.
I am buying a couple of panels from a friend, but these panels from Maplin were recommended.
Solar Powered 12V 15W Battery Charger
So now I need to get the wiring and lights. Finish setting up the pond and buy the pump. So far money spent totals 232.20. Not bad for a mornings shopping!
