Calendula
Calendula is easy to grow and will tolerate most soil types, but likes a full to partially sunny position. It will tolerate some frost and self seeds readily.
Calendula is a good plant to have around in the veg garden as it keeps out harmful bugs and attracts beneficial ones. It is especially effective at repelling the asparagus beetle and tomato worm.
Cornflowers
Cornflower is not frost tender and is in flower from June to August, with the seeds ripening from August to October. It is noted for attracting wildlife and love bees as these usually pollinate it. It prefers well-drained soil, loves the sun and is beautiful.
Forget-Me-Nots
The forget-me-not flower has five petals, with blue blooms and yellow centres which explode from the stems from May through October. Flower petals are sometimes pink. Forget-me-not plants often grow near brooks and streams and other bodies of water, which offer the high humidity and moisture that is desirable to this species. The perennial forget-me-not flower spreads easily, freely self-seeding for more of the wildflower to grow and bloom in shady spots where the tiny seeds may fall. Forget-me-not flower care is minimal, as with most native wildflowers. Forget-me-not plants grow best in a damp, shady area, but can adapt to full sun.
Wild Carrot
Insects love the Wild Carrot, attracting bees, bugs, beetles and loads of flies. It is from the umbellifers family and flowers June to October. It likes to be in the sun and prefers dry, well drained and calcareous soils.
