Valentine’s Day. Hearts, flowers, chocolates… it’s easy to get caught up in all the romantic hype. But what’s it really about? It’s a day about love, right? And as Christians, we know that real love comes from God. 1 John 4:19 says, “We love because he first loved us.” That’s the foundation of it all.
So, this Valentine’s Day, let’s think beyond the chocolates and focus on the kind of love that lasts. It’s not just about romantic love, but also the love we share with our family, friends, and even those who are hard to love. It’s about showing kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. It’s about reflecting God’s love to the world around us.
Maybe this year, instead of just buying a card, you could do something kind for someone who needs it. Maybe it’s helping a friend, volunteering your time, or simply telling someone you appreciate them. Let’s show the world what real love looks like – the kind that comes from the heart of God.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for loving me first. Help me to share that love with others, not just on Valentine’s Day, but every day. Show me how I can be kind and compassionate, reflecting your love to the world around me. Amen.
