Alright, let’s talk about a cool bit from the Bible, Revelation 2:19. It’s about a church where God says, “I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.”
Imagine that! God noticing you’re putting in more effort now than you did before. That’s awesome, right? It’s like levelling up in a game, but in real life, with your faith.
Matthew Henry, a really clever guy who studied the Bible, said something that fits perfectly: “It should be the ambition and desire of all Christians that their last deeds should be their best deeds, that they may be better and better every day, and that their last day is their best day.”
Think about that. It’s not about being perfect from the start, but about growing and improving. Maybe at first, you just went to church on Sundays. Now, you’re helping out with youth group, or praying for your friends, or reading your Bible more often. That’s what it means to be doing “more than you did at first.”
It’s about making each day count, trying to be a little kinder, a little more helpful, and a little closer to God. It’s not about comparing yourself to anyone else, but about being the best version of yourself you can be.
Prayer
Dear God, thank you for noticing when we try to do better. Help us to grow in our faith and to always strive to do more for you. Give us the strength to keep improving, to be kinder, and to love others as you love us. Help us to make each day a step closer to you, and to make our last deeds our best deeds. Amen.
Blessing
May God bless you with the courage to grow in your faith. May you find joy in serving others and may your heart always be open to God’s love. May your journey be filled with hope and may your last deeds be your best deeds.
