Verse 7: “And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.”
Jesus gathers the disciples, for a mission. He pairs them up, not solo missions, but dynamic duos. Why? Because there’s power in partnerships. When you team up, you’re not just stronger; you’ve got backup, support, and a friend to share the journey.
Verse 8-9: “He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belts—but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics.”
Jesus basically says, “Keep it simple, folks.” No extra baggage, no fancy gear, just the essentials. It involves simplicity. It’s not about the stuff you carry; it’s about the mission you share.
Verse 10-11: “And he said to them, ‘Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there. And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.'”
Include resilience. Not everyone will welcome your message, and that’s okay. Shake off the dust, move on, and keep spreading the love. It’s about resilience in the face of rejection.
Verse 12-13: “So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.”
They’re not just talking the talk; they’re walking the walk. Repentance, demon-busting, and healing galore. It’s about action. It’s not just about sharing words; it’s about bringing change, casting out darkness, and bringing healing wherever you go.
Mission involves partnerships. Find your dynamic duo, your ride-or-die friend who shares your mission and has your back. But simplify your life. It’s not about the fancy gear; it’s about the mission you’re on. Keep it simple, and focus on what truly matters. Not everyone will embrace your message, and that’s okay. Be resilient. Shake off the dust, move on, and keep spreading love and hope. Be about action. It’s not just about talking; it’s about walking the walk. Bring change, cast out darkness, and be a source of healing wherever you go.
