In Mark 13:24-27, Jesus paints a vivid picture of events that will occur before his return. It’s a passage that can be both fascinating and a little unsettling, but it offers valuable insights for young Christians today.
What Did Jesus Say?
Jesus describes a time of cosmic upheaval: “The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken” (Mark 13:24-25). This imagery, while symbolic, paints a picture of dramatic change and upheaval.
But amidst this chaos, there’s a promise: “Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens” (Mark 13:26-27). Jesus assures his followers that he will return in power and gather his chosen people.
