The grass withers, the flower fades,
Isaiah 40:8 English Standard Version (ESV)
but the word of our God will stand forever.
It is exciting to me to open a new book. I love reading crime novels. Agatha Christie a firm favourite. My absolute favourite is W.J. Burley, a Cornish author who created the detective Wycliffe. I have almost completed the series and Burley is an amazing author. Wycliffe grows in stature as you read his journey from book 1 to book 20. They are good books, but will they last? Shakespeare has lasted and going even further back to Middle England we have the author of the Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer. These books have lasted.
So why is the Bible special? It is the voice of God, written by ordinary people about amazing world changing events… some of which are still to happen. Read Daniel if you want to know more. His word written about the beginning of time, ends at the end of time. I get to hold this book in my hand daily. I get to read it, to be inspired by it. It is your journey, it is my journey, it is our journey with God. It will never stop being God’s word, his inspired word to us.
For the knowledge of your presence
in the warm embrace of a summer sun
refreshing breeze, cooling stream
the tranquillity of a mountain scene
we acknowledge you, Creator God
For the knowledge of your presence
in nature’s wild and stormy days
wind and rain and thunder’s roar
ocean pounding on the shore
we acknowledge you, Creator God
For the knowledge of your presence
on mountain peak and desert sand
in the quietness of a lonely place
resting in your warm embrace
we acknowledge you, Creator God
Amen
For the knowledge of your presence
on mountain peak and desert sand
in the quietness of a lonely place
resting in your warm embrace
we acknowledge you, Creator God
