Servants, do what you’re told by your earthly masters. And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work.
Colossians 3 v 23-23 The Message
Enough said! It is so easy to separate the holy and the secular when God is saying, “Make it all holy”. So, don’t see it as a punishment, see it as a lifetime of serving God. Work has several purposes, to earn money to pay the bills, job satisfaction and to serve God. What is the best place to be? Doing God’s will, that is the ultimate job satisfaction.
*This day is Your gift to me;
I take it, Lord, from Your hand
and thank You for the wonder of it.
God be with me
in this Your day,
every day
and every way,
with me and for me
in this Your day;
and the love
and affection
of heaven
be toward me.
Amen
