Shine Your Light

Jesus said, “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
Matthew 5 v 16

Jenny is an ordinary girl who decided one day that she wanted to shine her light in her school. On Monday morning she went into the playground and looked around for someone who was on their own. Her own friends didn’t want to be involved. Jenny was one of those good looking perfect people who always had friends around her. This morning though she decided to befriend someone new.

She found a young man alone and without friends and went and said hi. Over the course of the week she got to know this guy and eventually on Friday she invited him to youth club. At youth club he suddenly acquired 25 new friends and found himself in a place he had never been.

The following Monday Jenny was at it again along with her new friend. This time they found a young woman alone and without friends. After one week she came to youth club and thoroughly enjoyed it. She became Jenny’s newest friend.

Jenny said to me that her old friends were ignoring her. She was hanging out with the wrong kind of people. But she decided to persist with her desire to shine her light. Throughout the year she befriended around 50 new people and was personally responsible for building the youth group.
