If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.
James 1:5 MSG
This advice arrives immediately after an encouragement to not run away from trouble or hardship but to let it mature you. God is good in that he doesn’t leave us on our own. If we have difficulties he is there to help and he loves to help. So if you are lacking anything or you don’t know what to do, go to God. In your need for help, God is waiting for you to call to him.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings,
Slow to make enemies,
And quick to make friends.
But rich or poor, quick or slow,
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward. Amen
