At 23 I met Jesus and have dedicated my life to following him. I love God. I love my family and my pets. I love gardening and making stuff and I love playing with computers and techy stuff. I love living in Cornwall and I love walking and being outdoors.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11 v 28-30 (MSG)
People need rest and young people especially need space to be themselves, they need to find Jesus and find their true calling in life. We don’t encourage enough rest and yet it was something Jesus was strongly committed to enforcing. He knew he needed time out and asked the disciples to do the same. Rest is so much more than simply sleep, it is reading, hanging out in a hammock, with friends and family, eating and tasting the food, and resting.
I started volunteer youth work shortly after and then into paid-time work. Following successful completion of a diploma in youth work, I entered full-time paid youth work for a mixture of local authority, charities and churches. I am a detached youth worker and thoroughly enjoy engaging with young people on the streets. An evangelist in calling, I enjoy seeing young people embrace Jesus as Lord and seeing their lives change.
