A pressy was needed for the girls glamorous Granny. I hit on the idea of some pretty hankies, as she loves pretty and is a hanky lady. I shopped my stash for some suitable hanky material and found this green cotton. I planned to go for white or cream but when I found this it jumped out at me, it is just her colour.
To prep the fabric ready for edging:
1. I cut squares the size of one of my husbands hankies as I wanted on a bit smaller and needed fabric for hemming. I folded a triangle in on each corner to roughly mitre them. (The point of the triangle was roughly 2cm from the edge).
2. I hemmed the squares by folding each side in twice (by about 5mm) and stitching with a small stitch length so they would look delicate (2.2 on my machine).
3. Next I sewed a blanket stitch all around the edge with some crochet cotton (again from my stash woohoo).
Glad I didn’t find white fabric as I didn’t have any white crochet cotton.
Finally the fun part,
I wanted three different edges so took a trip to Pinterest for inspiration.
I struggled to find exactly what I wanted every thing was either too wide, more suited for table cloths or too thick, more suited to pillows.
