Ok I am now reaching four weeks after the operation and I am clearly on the mend. 90% better. Currently I am experiencing 3 difficulties:
- The bruising has moved down and settled around my private bits! Very painful and how do you deal with it. The worse time comes towards the end of the day when everything seems to tighten up. Best thing to do is to lay out and get your legs up. If you get to this point don’t worry just feels horrible.
- Very painful to pee. I am doing my pelvic floor exercises but I am not there yet. I am finding it hard to control my bladder and I am trying to push the bladder so I don’t have to pee every 5 minutes. Trouble is I suddenly find myself needing to pee and it is a rush. I haven’t wet myself yet but it has got close.
Quick tip here. I do leak! The nappies the hospital give you are huge and very uncomfortable to wear. What I would suggest is that you buy some women’s towels. They are small, unobtrusive and work perfectly well.
- Finally, frustration at not being able to do anything. And this is a huge warning. Don’t push it. Last night I moved 5 small boxes less than the weight of a kettle but it hurt and I am still bruised now. It is very easy to overdo and strain yourself. The reason they say don’t lift anything heavier than a kettle for 6 weeks is because they know it will hurt you.
It doesn’t stop the frustration though!
So folks I am on the mend but I still have a few weeks to go. It is a small price to pay for getting the all clear.
