Ok. I also love Lostwithiel. I love my house in Lostwithiel and I also enjoy the shops and the community. But I just wanted to contrast the difference between Lostwithiel and Lerryn.
Lostwithiel is a village of some 3000 residents. Lerryn has maybe 500. But here is the difference:
Lerryn Village Hall is always clean and well used. It is well supported and when it needs funds the needs are met. They don’t reject anybody from using the hall and have a variety of events there.
Lostwithiel Community Centre on the other hand is a mess. They are not well supported and have managed to alienate themselves from the community. There whole attitude surrounds making money. Despite raising £250k to build a youth centre attached to the back of the main building, young people are banned from using the centre.
There are some lovely toilets in Lerryn. They are open 24/7 and always clean. No charges. They are well maintained and have saved my life several times!
Lostwithiel toilets however continue to remain closed and the Council were delighted to announce that they were reopening soon. There is going to be one single sex toilet that you have to pay for. Whooppee do.
Both villages are lovely but in terms of how they are run I prefer the ruling council of Lerryn.
